SimBin series in that there is some great mods out for it. So if you get bored with the oodles of tracks and cars (with the various offical add-ons) you can always load up the Corvete Meeting Mod in GTR 2 and drive your old school C4 Vette around! Also, this title works with everythng! TrackIR? No problem! Eyefinity? Easy! Steering wheels and HOTAS? Absolutely! Stereo3d (S3D) with IZ3d, Tridef and AMD3D? All verified and awesome!How about Simcraft professional racing Sims? Yes, motion and VR/HMD headtracking support? All baked in.I've played this using all the tech stated and I can tell you that despite the latest eye-candy rich sims out there, I keep coming back to this one. The hardware requirements are very low by todays standards and will run on almost anything. It is nice though to crank everything on MAX with a decent modern GPU. High fraps and it still looks very good IMHO.. This game is very perfect! :D. As old as it might be, GTR2 still to this day remain one of the most complete racing simulators out there. It's a timeless classic. Packed with features, great physics and plenty of content make GTR2 a must have title for all simracing fans out there.. Still the best sim after all this years ;). Still my favourite racing sim, and of course, million of mods for it.. The game is fantastic for its age, but I have to give it a thump down only because of porsch and and ferrari licences.Should be included in the game instead of have a dosen and more non skin gray vehicles to participate with you. PS: and no the cracked or cd version solution is not a right solution. You are forced to sign in to a forum and run a third party product (safe or not).PS2: After about 2 hours in a 24h race all the cars stopped competing and ran with the speed limiter. wtf.. The best (track) racing simulator I've yet played! (Haven't played very many so far, I'm generally more into arcade racing and vehicular combat games)The good: - Firstly, this game has the world famous BMW M3 e46 GTR. This alone is plenty of reason to get this game!! It's sound is recreated very well. Even if the gearbox noise is kinda muffled, it still clearly is a genuine recording and the angry roar of the P60B40 engine is perfectly recorded.- Sound design. Seriously good work for a 2006 game. Though I must say the exterior engine soundwork is not very good (engine sound playback is kinda wonky? And wheel skid sounds in exterior cam don't sound screechy enough) the interior sound design is FANTASTIC. Engines all sound great in interior cam, same for tire skidding and the gearbox noises.- Graphics. They are not bad at all for 2006 standards. Models aren't too blocky and there's realtime shadows etc. Thank heavens too that there isn't overdone post-processing effects..- Physics. Namely, the handling physics for one. While the aforementioned does have a lot of realism to it I presume, the driving can be done very well even with only a mouse or keyboard even I've heard. The input programming for braking, steering and throttle is so well made.- Configurability. You need not be a pro to get into this game. On the novice difficulty setting you can configure most anything to very dynamically make the game's difficulty fit your level exactly. Parameters like car damage tire wear, vehicle damage, mechanical failure, driving assists like Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control...so much ability to tweak the game to be as fitting as possible for any skill player. Some options are configurable on a slider while others simply are turned on\/off.- Day\/night cycles which ofc too, you guessed it, can be tweaked. How quickly time progresses and at an hour accuracy, at which time the race starts.- Driving School. Nuff said..- Simulates GTR racing all the way, you must attend to pitstops, there's flag rules etc!The bad:- I'll say it again. The exterior cam soundwork for cars' sounds is kinda underwhelming..it's a bizarre contrast to how fantastic the interior cam soundwork is.The way engine noises sound in exterior cam is kinda bad for many of the cars and unfortunately for cars which IRL have audible gearbox whining even to outside the car, this game doesn't feature it.- Rather limited car roster. All the cars that are in game are great though. And the small number of cars can be fixed with mods.- Track roster also is kinda limited, where for example is Nordschleife, Laguna Seca etc? Well, atleast Spa Francorchamps is featured.To who I would recommend this? To someone who is not too mindful of graphics and wants a very realistic track racing sim. The game does have a steep learning curve I guess but if you persist, it's a moment of satisfaction to not drive off-track every 10 seconds!. this game introduced me to the sim world.still today is a masterpiece, with so many cool features that most of the sim today lacks.you can really feel the tension for the endurance races !!!
